Equipment

  • Rolling Pin
  • Mixing bowl
  • Frying Pan

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 150-170 grams all-purpose flour (will depend on the size of the eggs and type of flour)
  • 1 tablespoon vodka (cognac, liquor, rum)
  • 100 ml vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  • Beat the egg with the egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of vodka, until combined.
  • Add 100 grams of flour to the egg/vodka mix and make a rough dough. Keep adding flour, one tablespoon at the time until the dough stops sticking to your fingers. The dough will be quiet tough.
  • Cover the dough with a clean towel and allow to stand for about 30 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough into a thin disc.
Tip: if you, like me, don't have a big countertop in the kitchen, split the dough in half and roll out the one half at the time.
The disc should be very thin, almost transparent. The wings will expand when frying.
  • Cut into diamond shapes. First cut lengthwise into strips and then diagonally.
Cut a hole in the middle of each diamond.
  • Pull one end of the diamond through the hole. You will end up with a funny looing shape.
  • Cover the prepared shapes with a clean towel while you warm the oil.
  • Heat up the oil in a deep frying pan.
Fry the prepared wings a few at a time, turning when browned. This will not take a long time.
  • The wings will expand in size when frying. So do not overcrowd the frying pan.
Once fried, transfer to a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Continue until all wings are cooked.
  • When all the wings are fried, transfer to a serving plater and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  • Enjoy!
