Ingredients

  • 400 grams canned tomatoes, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • salt, to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Start off by peeling and chopping the garlic.
Heat up the oil in a medium frying pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Do not burn the garlic.
  • Add the canned tomatoes. Add the water, basil, salt and pepper. If you want to add more spices, cayenne, chilli, oregano, etc, now is the time.
Bring to boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
The sauce will thicken up as the liquid evaporates.
You can reduce the sauce even more if you like, but keep an eye it ans stir more often as it thickens.
  • The sauce is ready to be used as soon as it reaches your desired consistency.
    Enjoy!
