Ingredients

  • ¾ cup butter, melted
  • 1 ½ cups granulated white sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cacao powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease or line a 20 cm (8 inch) square baking dish with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl whisk together, melted butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat in the egg.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, cacao powder and salt.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture into the egg mixture. Mix until well combined.
  • Spread the batter into the prepared pan. The batter will be quite thick and sticky. Even the batter and try to get it into the corners of the pan.
  • Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan.
    Once cooled, remove from pan and cut into 12 squares.
