Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

This is a very delicious and easy to make chocolate chip cookie recipe. The cookies come out chewy and soft. Of course if you want, you can keep them in the oven a bit longer and they will become crunchy……but will loose the chewiness.

Gather and measure all the ingredients. It is better if the butter is brought to room temperature first. If you have no time for that, just take it out 10-15 minutes prior to mixing. Especially if you will be using an electric mixer, if mixing by hand, then it’s better at room temperature, it will be just softer.

Equipment

  • Backing sheet
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • cups (440 g) All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup (230 g) Butter, softened
  • ¾ cup (140 g) White granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup (120 g) Packed brown sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used 200 g plain milk chocolate, chopped)

Instructions

  • Heat up the oven to 200°C (375°F). In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and mix well. Set aside.
  • In large bowl, beat softened butter and sugars with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon for about 1 minute or until fluffy.
  • Add an egg and vanilla and beat until smooth. Stir in flour mixture just until blended (dough will be stiff). Stir in the chocolate.
  • Onto an ungreased cookie sheet (or a baking tray lined with parchment paper), drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2-3 cm (2 inches) apart.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes (for me it took 12 minutes) or until light brown (centers will be a bit soft).
Note: Baking time might vary depending on the size of the cookies. More time if they are big, and less time if they are small. You can open the oven during baking time to check on them. Once they get a bit of golden color, they are ready to be taken out.
Cool for 2 minutes. Remove from the cookie sheet to a cooling rack and cool completely, about 30 minutes. Store covered in an airtight container.
  • Enjoy!
