Homemade Marinara Sauce

A great and easy to make Marinara Sauce is perfect for the pizza base sauce or as a tomato sauce for your children’s snacks/meals.

All you need is just a few ingredients, that most of you will have in your pantry and about 20 minutes of time.

To start you need to peel and chop about 3-4 garlic cloves. You can add more garlic if you like.

Heat up the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and fry for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.

Add a can of chopped tomatoes to the frying pan with garlic.

Add half a cup of water, dried basil, freshly ground black pepper and season with salt. Here you can any other spices that you like, cayenne, chilly, oregano, etc.

Bring the sauce to boil, lower the heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce will thicken, as the liquid evaporates. You can reduce the sauce even more to make it even thicker, just keep an eye on it, not to burn it.

Taste the sauce and add more seasonings if needed.

After the sauce has reached your desired consistency, it is ready to be used in your homemade pizza or as a dipping sauce. If you, or your kids like the sauce to be uniform, press it through a fine sieve, or blend it in a blender.

Enjoy!
