Pizza is such and easy and so very diverse dish that is enjoyed by most of the people in this world.
I always wanted to make my own pizza at home. You can have so many different fillings, with meats, with vegetables, seafood, mushrooms, a combination, etc.
This pizza is made from homemade pizza dough, mushroom topping, lots of cheese and homemade marinara sauce.
Prepare your pizza dough and marinara sauce in advance, as the dough is yeast based and needs time to rise. You can find full recipes for the homemade pizza dough and marinara sauce in the links above.
Now for the mushrooms, wash them really well. For this pizza I used the Chanterelle mushrooms. Little yellow, funny looking ones. But you can use whichever mushrooms you like or have access to.
Some mushrooms require more time to cook, others don’t. For this I decided to cook the mushrooms with some oregano and onions first. Heat up the oil in a frying pan, and fry the roughly chopped onion for a few minutes, until it becomes translucent, about 4 minutes. Add the mushrooms and fry for a further 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the desired spices, I used salt, pepper and oregano.
After the mushrooms are done to your liking, start on assembling the pizza. But first, heat up the oven to 240°C (475°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
On a floured working surface, roll out your pizza dough to the desired thickness.
Spread marinara sauce on top of the rolled out pizza dough. Sprinkle some grated Gouda cheese and some mozzarella cheese. Spread the prepared mushrooms on top. Here you can add other kinds of topping or more cheese or anything else you like to see on a pizza.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
Serve immediately. Enjoy!
