Simple Chicken Broth

Very simple and fast to make, this chicken broth can be used in numerous dishes, from soups to stews, risottos and so on. With just a few ingredients and 30 minutes of time, you can have a delicious and versatile chicken broth.

Place chicken backs or wings (or any type of chicken pieces you desire, but the chicken pieces should have skin and bones) into a medium pot.

Fill with approximately 2,5 Liters of water and bring to boil over medium – high heat.

Peel the onion, but keep it whole, do not cut it.

Once the water is boiling, lower the heat to medium, add the onion, salt, peppercorns and bay leaf.

Boil for about 20 minutes. And your simple chicken broth is done.

Store in an air tight container in the fridge, for up to 3 days, or up to a month in the freezer.

Ingredients

  • 2,5 Liter water
  • 1 large onion
  • 200 grams chicken backs
  • black peppercorns
  • salt, to taste
  • 2 medium bay leaves

Instructions

  • Fill a medium sized pot with approx. 2,5 Liters of water.
    Place the chicken backs in the water and bring to boil over medium – high heat.
  • Peel the onion, but do not cut it. Keep it whole.
  • Once the water with the chicken backs is boiling, add the onion, bay leaf, salt and peppercorns.
  • Boil for about 20 minutes.
  • And the simple chicken broth is done! You can use it to make soup, risottos, stews and so on.
  • Store in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze it for up to a month.
